Names in this archive that collide with real businesses
The fifty businesses in the exjsx demo archive were invented by AI. The names were generated the same way, and none of them was cleared against any trade mark register or company register before the sites were built. That was a mistake in how the exercise was run, and this page is part of correcting it.
We went back afterwards and looked for real businesses trading under each of the fifty names. Twenty-six of the fifty collide with something real. They are all listed below.
If your business is on this page, or should be and is not: email legal@wpos.ai. We will acknowledge within 2 working days and rename or remove within 5. We will not ask you to prove your rights first and we will not argue about it. These are demonstration pages with no commercial value to us and no reason at all to exist at your expense.
An important limitation
No official trade mark register was successfully searched. The UK IPO register is behind a form we could not query, and the EUIPO and USPTO interfaces refused automated access. Every entry below rests on evidence that a real business trades under the name — a live website, a company or charity record — and not on evidence of a registered trade mark. A registered mark we did not find would make a collision more serious, not less. A proper clearance search is commissioned and this page will be updated when it reports.
So: this list is what we found by looking. It is not a legal opinion, and it is certainly not a guarantee that the other twenty-four names are clear.
Being renamed — six
These six are exact-name collisions with real, trading businesses, several of them in the same industry as the demo. A disclaimer does not fix this, because the name travels without the page: into a search result, a screenshot, a link pasted into a chat. All six are being renamed before launch, and the demo pages keep their existing web addresses so that links do not break.
| Demo name | What the demo pretends to be | The real business |
|---|---|---|
| Second Spring | Menopause telehealth clinic | Second Spring Midlife Women's Health, Napa, California — a real menopause telehealth practice (secondspringmidlife.com); and Second Spring Clinic, Exeter, United Kingdom — a real menopause and HRT clinic (secondspringclinic.co.uk). Same name, same field, in both of our main audiences. This is the worst one on the list. |
| Voltcraft VX | Modular synthesizer hardware | VOLTCRAFT — a house brand of Conrad Electronic SE, in use since 1982 for electronic measuring and test equipment (voltcraft.com). A long-established brand with a trade mark registration covering electronics. |
| RUNTIME | Developer conference | New Relic RUNTIME, a real developer conference which ran in Atlanta on 12–13 August 2026 (newrelic.com); also Runtime, an enterprise technology publication (runtime.news). |
| Safe Passage | Refugee legal-aid charity | Safe Passage International, a real UK charity working on safe routes for refugee children — registered charity 1179608 (safepassage.org.uk). Identical name, identical field, and our demo invents outcome statistics and a donation page. Being a work of fiction is no comfort to a charity whose donors might land on it. |
| Tideline | Marine conservation nonprofit | Tideline, a real marine restoration organisation in North Norfolk, United Kingdom, working on seagrass, saltmarsh and native oysters (tideline.solutions). |
| The Long Barn | Wedding venue | Several real UK wedding venues trade as The Long Barn, including The Long Barn at Blackbrook Barns, Lichfield (blackbrookbarns.co.uk). Separately, thelongbarn.co.uk is a real, live business — a bunkhouse in West Wales — and our demo page used an email address at that domain. That is being removed as a priority; see the changelog. |
Being renamed on request — eight
Real businesses trade under these names, in the same or an adjacent field. The collision is real but less acute — usually because the name is partly descriptive, or the real business is in a different country or a different niche. We will rename any of these on request, on the same terms as the six above.
| Demo name | Demo industry | The real business |
|---|---|---|
| Toolbelt | Trades apprenticeship platform | toolbelt.work (skilled-labour platform, United States) and toolbelt.com (construction software); Toolbelt Software Ltd, United Kingdom |
| Basis | Crypto tax software | getbasis.ai — an AI accounting product used by a large share of top US accounting firms |
| Clinic Line | AI voice agents for clinics | clinicline.ca — virtual clinical assistants handling clinic calls; Clinic Line Limited, United Kingdom |
| Ridgeline Roof & Gutter | Roofing | Ridgeline Roofing and Guttering Solutions Ltd, Bristol, and Ridgeline Roofing businesses in several other places. "Ridgeline" plus a trade word is a common combination |
| Verbo | Language school | Verbo Education Limited, Verbo Academy CIC and Verbo Limited, all trading in the United Kingdom; verboapp.co.uk, a speech and language toolkit |
| Backhaul | Freight marketplace | Backhaul Ltd, United Kingdom; backhauldirect.com. "Backhaul" is also standard logistics vocabulary |
| Palletmind | Warehouse robotics | PalletMind, an AI-powered pallet network in Canada (thepalletbook.com). A coined word, so an exact match matters more |
| Hardin Drains | Emergency plumbing | Several real US plumbing businesses trade as Hardin, including hardinplumbing.net and hardinservicesinc.com |
Real, but distant — twelve
A real business exists with this name, but in a different industry, a different country, or a form where confusion is unlikely. We are listing them anyway, because we would rather you decide that than have us decide it for you.
| Demo name | Demo industry | The real business |
|---|---|---|
| Casa Ocotillo | Boutique hotel | Casa Ocotillo, a 1934 hacienda guesthouse in Palm Springs, California — appears to be dormant |
| Kilnhouse | Direct-to-consumer cookware | thekilnhouse.in (ceramics, India); Kilnhouse Design Studio (Johannesburg) |
| Iron Ledger | Indie video game | Iron Ledger, a free browser deck-builder by Emotional Machines (itch.io) — same name, same medium, but a small free hobby project |
| Common Ground Trust | Land conservation | Common Ground, a real UK charity working on land, nature and community orchards; and a named institution proposed in the 2019 Land for the Many report |
| Tracewell | AI observability | Tracewell Systems, Ohio — rugged and edge computing since 1973 (tracewell.com) |
| Anvil Field T9 | Rugged computing | Connect Tech's Anvil rugged embedded computers use the same naming convention in the same field; anvilfield.com is a separate real product |
| Little Molar | Paediatric dentistry | littlemolar.com — Little Molar Kids Dental Clinic, Mumbai; Little Molars Pediatric Dentistry, New Jersey |
| Carrow Valve Works | Industrial valves | No valve maker of this name, but Carrow Works is a real and well-known industrial site in Norwich, England |
| Hana Sekigawa | A person — motion designer | We found no motion designer of this name. It is listed because it is a personal name presented with a portfolio and a biography, and a real person may share it. If that is you, please write to us |
| The Undertow | Investigative magazine | Undertow Publications, an independent press; The Undertow, a 2023 book. Publishing, but not journalism |
| Sediment | Natural wine club | Sediment & Sentiment, a natural wine club on Long Island, New York |
| Fourth Hand | Vintage watch marketplace | The Fourth Hand is the journal of Hampden Watch. It is also standard watchmaking vocabulary |
The other twenty-four
We looked and found nothing trading under these names: Blunt Instrument, Loud Quarry, Hard Turn, Onsen Mirador, The Ward, Avers Frame, Ledgerless, Twelve Harvests, Wren & Ash, Editionable, Quarter Inserted, Sinkstone, Moss Hollow, Byte Cubs, Housecell, Spoke & Van, Boardsmith, Gainstage, Field to Pass, Hutbook, Dispatchbox, Clause Radar, Quiet Night A2, Plainroll.
"We found nothing" is not "there is nothing." No register was searched. If one of these is yours, the offer above applies to you exactly as it does to everyone on the lists.
Domains and registration numbers
Three demo pages used contact addresses at domains registered to real third parties, and three used company or charity registration numbers that turn out to be real allocations rather than invented ones. Those are being replaced with reserved, unusable equivalents. The changelog records each one as it lands.
